The Vanderkooi operation took a bold step forward by transitioning from a free-run floor system to a Jansen Aviary system, effectively doubling capacity in both barns. Under one roof, the two lay barns now house 11,000 birds per side, all benefiting from Eco Zero climate control and automation.
The journey began in January 2024, when the Vanderkooi owners and the United Agri Systems team traveled to Holland to tour poultry facilities. Inspired by the latest technology and industry growth, they set out to implement these advancements back home. By October 2024, the first flock was placed, and the results have been outstanding.

The Eco Zero Ventilation System is a game-changer, conditioning incoming air using the barn’s warmth, controlling humidity levels, and ensuring a stable indoor climate. The result? Superior air quality, reduced dust, and improved bird comfort.
One of the most remarkable outcomes of this project has been the dramatic improvement in barn conditions. The new ventilation system has cut 70-80% of dust in the facility, creating a cleaner and healthier space for both birds and farm staff. With controlled humidity and precise temperature management, the birds are thriving— and a happy bird means a more productive bird.
Since the project’s completion, the Vanderkooi team has been thrilled with the results. The improved barn environment, coupled with UAS’s latest control system updates, has exceeded expectations. The superior climate control and efficiency gains have cemented this aviary system as a model for future poultry operations in the region.
